Learn how to incorporate reading into your child’s daily lives and routines.
At STOP READ GO, we believe that learning to read should NOT be the destination. It is simple a means of transportation. In other words, Reading should not be the end goal, it is only a means to a goal.
For this reason, we don’t see Reading as a subject that children need to wait until they are old enough to learn. Instead, we see Reading as an essential skill to have, similar to walking or talking. A skill that can be learned in the early years in the same way we ALL learn to walk and talk.
As a result, we have developed a method that leverages the way children learn these basic skills during the early years, not in a classroom, but through everyday life and play.
We are here to show you how to incorporate Reading into your child’s daily lives and routines, as well as into their play, in a way that doesn’t feel forced, but natural.
Reading doesn’t have to be limited to a book or to a time of day or to a certain age. You can easily incorporate reading into everything you do, any time of day, every single day. How? By labeling their world!
Label the chair, the table, the door, the wall, the mirror, everything and anything your child sees or touches. Read the words aloud as you go about their day, while they’re getting dressed, while they eat, while they play. There’s literally a learning opportunity everywhere you look!
